Guaiacwood Oil

Item#:500490    CAS: 8016-23-7    FEMA: 2534

An essential oil commonly used as a fragrance ingredient for soap and fine fragrances, Guaiacwood Oil comes from the Palo Santo (Bulnesia sarmientoi) tree. Part of the Guaiacum genus of trees (hence the name), the Palo Santo naturally inhabits the Gran Chaco area of South America, around the Argentina-Bolivia-Paraguay border.

Produced via steam distillation of a mixture of wood and sawdust, the resulting oil has a very high viscosity yet relatively soft odor reminiscent of geranium and sandalwood.
