Orange Flower Absolute
Flowers of the Bitter Orange tree are harvested by hand, mainly in North Africa. They are rushed to the extraction facilities and extracted with solvents, primarily Hexane. The yield is low, and the resulting Absolute is pricey material useful to both fine perfumers and flavorists.
In fine fragrance, it is a great fixative for citrus accords. In flavors, it adds a rounding effect giving a more natural feel to a synthetic formula.
