Texas cedarwood oil is a naturally occurring essential oil derived from the wood of the Juniper Mexicana or Texas Cedar Tree. The oil is steam distilled from the wood or foliage of the tree and can range from yellowish to dark yellow. Texas cedarwood oil is quite vicious in texture and will deposit crystal upon standing. In many cases, this particular cedarwood oil put through a refinement process, then used in fragrances formulations, soaps, household spray, cleaners, and insecticides. It finds a home in the aromatherapy and personal care industries, as well.
Cedarwood is generally matched with other warm aromas to create deep, earthy, and enriching profiles. It is also often paired with spicy and sweet notes to develop masculine and sophisticated fragrances. Vanilla, patchouli, juniper, lavender, and sandalwood are just a few of the most popular partners for cedarwood.
