Cedarwood Oil

Cedarwood oil is distilled in China, Morocco, and the United States – namely Texas and Virginia. The oil is steam distilled from cedar wood sawdust, stumps, and heartwood.

Depending on origin, the wood is grown exclusively for this purpose. Alternatively, by-products of the logging industry are used. Some qualities are redistilled, to enhance the respective values of the high or heavy fraction.

Cedrol content is often used as a key quality driving factor. The oil has a pleasant woody odor, that is widely used in fragrance formulation.
